The Havaton is a mixed breed with no official origin. However, the mix is achieved by breeding a Havanese male or female to a Coton de Tulear male or female. As a mixed breed, the Havaton is not eligible for AKC registration. However, there are registries that the Havaton is eligible for such as the American Canine Hybrid Club, the Designer Dogs Kennel Club, the Dog Registry of America Inc. and the International Designer Canine Registry.
: The size of the Havaton may vary depending on the parents of the puppies. However, the typical Havaton will weigh between 7 and 13 pounds and should reach estimated heights of 9-12 inches tall.
The Havaton may exhibit characteristics of either parent dog in their coat. The most common Havaton coats are either smooth and silky or light and fluffy. There are several color variations that are possible in the Havaton, similar to the most common colorings of the Havanese or Coton de Tulear. The most common colors are Salt & Pepper, black and white or brown and white.

The Havaton, like any other small breed, does best when there is a firm voice in the home and the dog knows its place well. The Havaton, as a breed, is very eager to please and will happily comply to your every command. However, it must be clear to the dog who is in charge. Due to the texture of the Havaton’s hair, they will require brushing on a daily basis to avoid matting and they should be bathed 2-3 times monthly. Also, the Havaton will require regular trimming to maintain a clean look and any hair between the pads of the fee should be removed regularly. The Havaton’s ears will also require attention regularly to prevent infection.
The Havaton is considered a very easily trained dog. The Havanese, one of the parents of the Havaton, has been utilized in circus acts for many years due to their trainability and eagerness to please. It is found that these traits are often found the Havaton as well. As stated, it is necessary to establish yourself as the pack master with your pet. The pack master must be firm and consistent, but should never be cruel or aggressive.
The Havaton will benefit from daily exercise as well as time in the yard to play. However, the Havaton is a wonderful breed for apartment living as well. They do not require a great deal, or long periods of outdoor exercise and are just as happy snuggled up on the couch in your lap.
